What can I say? I’ve been so tied up with Darker than Black.

all-tied-up

*insert your own bondage joke here*

Unlike my first anniversary, whoa. It sure is getting old around these parts, and while I daresay I’m getting better at doing this, that doesn’t mean I’m doing this any faster. Or even if I’m doing it any faster, it doesn’t mean that I’m feeling any less of that e-nnui thing. But enough of those two posts that you’re not going to click on or re-read.

I don’t know if I’d call 2008 a good year for my blogging, with that in mind. Alright, so maybe there was that Fate/stay night thing, which kind-of redefined ‘good’ for me. Then there was Twitter, which I have Hinano to blame for. It started out as a… hell, I can’t remember why Hinano asked me to get a Twitter anymore. I was pretty confident that I wasn’t going to update it at first, but the twit count sorta says it all.

Blog reading, on the other hand… 2008 was an excellent year full of ripe pickings.

Here are some thank-yous in random order of significance:

Thank you, Lelangir, for making the blogosphere a happier… and more… whatever it is that (屮゜Д゜)屮 face of yours signifies. (屮゜Д゜)屮. anitations has been the best thing since Ani-Nouto maybe; too bad you don’t have Zaitcev’s stamina, you harlot. Thank you for putting up with all the awesome anime/meta conversations we have that I never really get around to turning into posts–they’ll make their way up on Super Fanicom soon, I promise.

Thank you, everyone whose posts I’ve ever shared on Google Reader.

Thank you, bloggers, new or otherwise, that I’ve discovered over the past year, for adding to my load of things to read before I go about my daily business. Sometimes when I fall behind, I don’t even get to do my daily business. Jerks. Repeat offenders include OGT, ghostlightning, Omisyth, gaguri, animekritik, Lbrevis, _eternal, moritheil, schneider, kiriska, Pontifus, cuchlann, and miasmacloud; while there are others that I’ve been reading recently, you people are the worst, and by worst I mean best.

Thank you, coburn, for blogging; even if you’ve quit, your archives will remain. And I will plunder them like a grave robber does graveyards, or pesky archaeologists a Pharoah’s tomb.

Thank you, Andrew Cunningham, for setting a new… standard in Eastern Standard. Seriously. Anyone who swears like that and still churns out significant amounts of quality content on a daily basis without having the taste of someone so predisposed to making me shove a couple of fingers down my throat whenever I read their posts deserves special mention.

Thanks to all my aniblogquantainces on Twitter that I’m following or who follow me, who make me feel like I’m part of something bigger, of this warm, fuzzy community with healthy amounts of The Crazy that I can always depend on for one thing or another.

Finally, thank you if you’re one of  the 350 people who willingly read the content that this blog produces; FeedBurner told me I had that much until… a day ago, where they dropped abruptly to about 112 for no reason. I’m sure it’s a bug, though, I mean, I can’t have bored you guys off with all that Darker than Black, right? Good riddance to you if you have, though!

a-very-gambling-birthday

I’m just not cut out for this kind of metasturbation anymore, and can’t find much to say here about other people who’ve been saying things about other things. Maybe it’s all well and good that on my 2nd blogniversary my hands are sore from genuine blogging, and not from waxing lyrical about waxing lyrical, or paying tribute to bloggers long-gone who don’t deserve the spotlight anymore. Back to the grind I go!

Grind on good sir, and remember to survey your works and pat yourself on the back once in a while. You are surely now a one man institution.

Wow 350 suscribers…wordpress tells me I don’t reach half of that in terms of hits for the day I post. Hope you continue to enjoy anime and writing :D. And this is something I wanted to say as well: Prosit!

wooh, it’s been two years already?! ‘grats!! With the daily episodic blogging of DtB, you just contradicted what you said in your SlowBlogging post, trying to live a paradox so you can be more like Hei?! Then again, that’s under ’slowwww planning, fast blogging’ so I guess it doesn’t really count.

    In any case, more power!!

  10. April 10th, 2009 at 19:52

Every new year as a blogger is worth celebrating even more than the last. Well done, Owen, and I hope to be saying the same thing in 2010!

  11. April 10th, 2009 at 21:06

Congrats on the two years…thanks are due from me too for many things, F/S N being one of them (you HAVE to watch Kara no Kyoukai at some point BTW…although waiting until after the DtB project is probably advised in order to give it the love and attention it deserves).

Twitter is handy for filling that gap between the benefits of IM and full-on blog posts but I know full well how tough it is to keep writing when you’re spreading your time and energy across so many other things. I’m glad you’ve managed to hang on while all too many others have succumbed so here’s to the next year! ^_^

  12. April 10th, 2009 at 23:03

    I-It’s not like I’m pleased you mentioned me or anything -_-;

Congrats on the two years. Strangely enough the first time I came across your blog was when you had suddenly disappeared for a while. May such a tragic event never happen again.

  13. April 10th, 2009 at 23:15

    Congratulations to you man.

Hope that you had fun in this year and that you´ll continue to have fun in the comming year.

  14. April 11th, 2009 at 01:55

    Grats, Owen.

    Enjoy the years ahead~

  15. April 11th, 2009 at 02:23

Thanks so much, everyone. I don’t know how I feel about the coming years, but here’s to staying on for as long as is humanly possible!

ghostlightning :Congratulations! When you get around to writing about Gundam, I’ll join you whether or not you like what you see. In the mean time good job on DtB.

Glad to know I’m in good hands!

coburn :Grind on good sir, and remember to survey your works and pat yourself on the back once in a while. You are surely now a one man institution.

Jason Miao once said that there were anime bloggers who loved their blogs more than they did anime, and that it was a problem. I’ll try to not do the back-patting more than once every year, or something.

animekritik :congrats! may you win the lottery soon so you can spend all of your time reading blogs…

Hah, I wish. I don’t do lotteries, so the only way that I can have won one is if someone from Africa e-mails me…

Martin :Congrats on the two years…thanks are due from me too for many things, F/S N being one of them (you HAVE to watch Kara no Kyoukai at some point BTW…although waiting until after the DtB project is probably advised in order to give it the love and attention it deserves).

I plan to do something ambitious like watch all of Kara no Kyoukai in a row, punctuated by blog posts for each movie. I mean, I did do F/sn in that manner, so… yeah. You could call this my attempt at blogging again or dying, I guess. I hope all of us will stick around for as long as possible.

    Omisyth :I-It’s not like I’m pleased you mentioned me or anything -_-;
Congrats on the two years. Strangely enough the first time I came across your blog was when you had suddenly disappeared for a while. May such a tragic event never happen again.

Oddly enough, the number of subscribers I had actually went up while I was without internet last May. I can’t really explain it myself, either.

  16. April 11th, 2009 at 04:06

Congrats on surviving two years. (屮゜Д゜)屮

I find that though I still watch anime regularly, I’m finding it harder and harder to make the effort to write posts, though I get plenty of ideas (and unfinished ones) to write posts. I hope you don’t have that trouble as you go along. :3

MOAR POWER! Good job making it this far. Keep stimulated, and it’ll be a breeze. ^^ Cheerios

  18. April 11th, 2009 at 07:36

Congratulations! That you’ve only been up for two years, and already you’ve done so much is commendable. Great work, and I hope to see more excellent trolls articles from you! <3

  19. April 11th, 2009 at 12:16

    wow how time flies ya?

Here’s to more years of blogging ^^

  20. April 11th, 2009 at 13:00

Your writing may be crap, but at least you have good taste in reading material.

  21. April 11th, 2009 at 13:20

I’m always late to the party, it seems! In any case, congrats on the two years! “etasturbation” is officially the most awesome word I’ve seen in a while, and you know what, your daily business probably wasn’t really worth attending to anyway. :P

  22. April 11th, 2009 at 21:56

Congrats on making year 2 :D

btw, whatever happened to ABC :(

  23. April 11th, 2009 at 23:36

Well, how could I have missed? Owen’s one of the rather, “disturbed” but “well-versed” people around. I can’t say I’m kissing his fucked up ass or anything, but I have to admit he’s an aspiration to still-just-a-rookie such as myself.

    Cheers!

  24. April 12th, 2009 at 05:08

What can I say? Congrats on lasting two years, and thanks for keeping up with the great content. I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for CAT, but I know that I’ve learned a lot from you as well, so don’t forget that the writer isn’t the only one to benefit from blogging :P

(BTW, looks like FeedBurner really is messed up. My 100 subscribers turned into 50, and I’ve been paranoid ever since >_<)

  25. April 12th, 2009 at 16:22

Hurrah! Congrats on this milestone, and may there be many more! (屮゜ω゜)つ℃(°ω°屮)

Apropos of Twitter, have a very excellent BROSHIDOFIST to commemorate the occasion.

  26. April 18th, 2009 at 23:12

Hey, congratulations on your two years of anime blogging! I’m rather flattered to be mentioned here, which means, I have to blog harder. Count me in on the Gundam thing, too. :P
